McFlurry

A dessert defined by its spoon.

Soft-serve ice cream blended with confectionery pieces using a hollow spoon that drives the mixing.

The McFlurry was developed in Bathurst, New Brunswick, by Canadian franchisee Ron McLellan, and reached the United States in 1997.

The hollow, square-topped spoon is the mechanism, not a utensil: it clips into the mixing spindle so the dessert is blended in the cup it is served in.
