The menu is not the same twice
Beef in India, rice in the Philippines, kosher branches in Israel: a standardised chain that is far less standardised than its reputation suggests.
internationalmenuThe chain's reputation is uniformity. The actual menu varies enough that a traveller can be genuinely surprised.
Some variation is regulatory or religious: no beef in India, kosher-certified branches in Israel that omit cheese from beef sandwiches, halal sourcing across much of the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Some is straightforwardly commercial. Rice dishes in the Philippines and Indonesia, McSpicy variants across Asia, and seasonal flavour programmes in Japan exist because they sell, not because a head office required them.
What stays fixed
What does not vary is the operating system underneath: station layout, fry times, holding windows, and the training that makes them repeatable. The menu is the negotiable part.
